Common questions
Do I need an account?
No. Open the app, add your business name, and create an invoice.
How do I send an invoice?
Tap Send on the invoice and choose Email, Message, Share or Print. Email uses the Mail app on your iPhone and sends from your own address, so replies come straight to you. If you use Gmail or Outlook instead, choose Share and pick that app.
How do I get paid?
Add PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, a Stripe or Square payment link, Zelle, Interac e-Transfer, bank details or cheque instructions in More › Payment Methods. Your invoices show a Pay button and QR code for link-based methods. Money goes straight to you. HeyHippo never takes a cut and can’t see payments, so mark invoices paid when the money arrives.
What’s free?
Five sent invoices each calendar month, plus unlimited drafts, estimates, clients, payment tracking and data export. HeyHippo Pro adds unlimited invoices, recurring invoices, send-later reminders, all templates and colours, and reports.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
Sign in with the same Apple Account, then tap More › Restore Purchases.
How do I cancel HeyHippo Pro?
Tap More › Manage Subscription in the app, or go to Settings › your name › Subscriptions › HeyHippo Pro on your iPhone. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for.
My data isn’t showing on my iPad.
Make sure both devices use the same Apple Account with iCloud turned on for HeyHippo, and open the app on both. More › iCloud Sync shows the status.
Do recurring invoices send themselves?
No. On each date HeyHippo prepares the invoice and reminds you to review and send it. iOS decides when apps can run in the background, so the draft appears the next time HeyHippo runs.
How do I export my data?
More › Export Data (CSV) gives you invoices, payments and clients as spreadsheets. It’s free.
How do I delete everything?
Delete records in the app. Deleting the app removes them from that device. To delete the iCloud copy, open Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Account Storage › HeyHippo › Delete Data.
Is my information private?
Yes. HeyHippo has no account and no servers, and it doesn’t track you. Your data stays on your devices and in your private iCloud. The HeyHippo Privacy Policy has the details.
