I’ve been building for the web for 20 years — the last few of those running it as Bunker41.

The 41 Story

The office is a finished room in my basement. 41 is the house number. Every morning when I’d head downstairs to work I’d say I was going to the bunker — and after enough mornings, that’s just what the place got called.

It turned out to be the right metaphor for the work. Most “web design” you can buy locally is a brochure made out of templates: looks pretty, falls over the first time you ask it to do real work. The web I build is the other kind — fortified, owned by the people it’s built for, the kind of thing that doesn’t need to be replaced in two years.

Bunker41 is the name of the office. The work matches.

What I Build

Three categories, in plain language:

• Websites — custom-designed, fast to load, easy to update, structured to rank. Not templates. Not page builders. Real code.
• Web apps & integrations — the parts a regular website can’t do. Custom checkout flows, booking systems, third-party API integrations, internal tools, Shopify customizations.
• The follow-up — maintenance, SEO and AI search visibility, occasional emergency triage.

Where I Work From

Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. I work out of the Soo, and most of my clients are within a few hours’ drive — restaurants, contractors, clinics, retail, mobile services. The kind of small businesses Northern Ontario actually runs on.

That local lens matters more than it sounds. A web shop in Toronto pricing a Northern Ontario contractor’s site doesn’t know what they’re pricing — what their customers search for, what trust looks like in a small market, what a fair price is. I do, because I live here.

I take projects across Northern Ontario and beyond. Everything’s handled remotely. But the home base, the perspective, the local accountability — that’s the Soo.

How I Work

• Sole prop, no account managers. When you call, you get me. When you ask a question, you get an answer — not a ticket number routed through three people.
• Written process from day one. Proposal, schedule, change-request rules, weekly Friday updates. You always know what’s happening, what’s next, and what I need from you.
• You own everything. Code, content, the domain, the hosting account. No proprietary lock-in. If you ever want to leave, you take all of it with you.
• Northern Ontario small business pricing. Custom work at fair rates for people running real businesses. Not big-city agency invoices.
